Vienna cellar girl ‘our daughter’

The parents of an Austrian schoolgirl missing for eight years say a teenager who apparently escaped from a cellar prison is their daughter.

“We fell into each other’s arms… I recognised her from her way of being, her face … I always thought she was alive,” her mother told Austrian TV.

The girl’s mother, Brigitta Sirny, said on Austrian TV she was very proud of her daughter who had called her by an affectionate nickname - “mama mausi” - when they met again.

What kind of a man are you?

by Sharique on August 24, 2006

A lady teacher asks the class about some Christian Women’s College. The boy sitting next to her is confused about the name and even denies having heard of it. Even Stella Maris is an enigma to him. My teacher quickly replies back

“What kind of a man are you? You should be ashamed of yourself that you are not aware of the 2 most famous women’s colleges in the city”

Quote of the day (one of my friend heard this on dinner table in mess)

Har ladki ke saath sone ka dil karta hai lekin yaar koi aise ladki chahiye jiske saath uthne ka dil kare

Love China for at least this

by Sharique on August 23, 2006

BEIJING (AP) - China’s parliament is considering a law that would bar teachers from insulting students after widespread complaints of classroom humiliation, a news report said Wednesday.

The measure would “ban teachers from insulting and physically punishing their students,” the Xinhua News Agency said. It said the ban was part of an amendment to a law on child protection being considered by the National People’s Congress.

Violators could be fired or given administrative punishments, Xinhua said. It didn’t say how the measure would define insults.

A complete iceberg

by Sharique on August 23, 2006

Have you ever seen a complete iceberg??

This picture was sent by the MD of a petrol station at St. Johns, Newfoundland. They had to change the direction of the icebergs, by pushing it with the platforms. In this particular case, the sea was calm, the water very clear and the sun almost on top of the iceberg. The forecasted weight of this iceberg is 300 million tons. Things like this makes us understand why a picture is worth more than 1 thousand words… Not so much for the importance, but for its beauty.
