I must admit that I have been away from TV for long. TV was a lifeline for me 5 years ago but college life seems to have changed that. Actually a lot has changed in the TV world; kyun ki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi, kahani ghar ghar ki etc, etc now have their children grown up. Well it’s a different thing that every trouble possible continues to plague them and perhaps the same was the case with their parents. You don’t have to be a genius to guess the story that took place in 5 years.

Zee sports seems to an interesting sports channel. Apparently they are doing a great favour to the country by broadcasting 1983 world cup finals and the Sharjah cup, in which Sachin single handedly led India to victory, again and again. They even show ball to ball coverage of tests matches India has won so far; the scarcity of such events ensures that we get to see the same matches every 2 days.

Raju Srivastava seems to have become a superstar of TV. Every channel is so obsessed with his mimics that they are being broadcasted up to 3 times a day.

They are so desperate for sensationalization that even small stories are converted in news flashes. Crowd protesting in Hajipur is a BREAKING NEWS, a lunatic lover shooting his fiancé’s latest boy friend is a BREAKING NEWS and a man marrying a man in Lahore is a BREAKING NEWS. I wonder how they would react to an actual BREAKING NEWS. If this trend continues then-

1. BREAKING NEWS on Star News- Reports are coming in that Mayawati just sneezed. The reasons are being investigated by our special correspondent but initial speculations suggest that the sneeze was caused because of her dupatta’s ends. Doubts are now being raised on such dupatta manufacturers as sneezing might lead someone to death.

2. BREAKING NEWS on Aaj Tak- The dupatta manufacturer of Mayawati’s brand, Hathi chaap dupattas, has been arrested. He is being investigated for links with Mulayam Singh. Apparently Mayawati had accused Mulayalam of conspiring to kill her. Amar Singh was quick in his response to defend Mulayam. He informed us that Aishwarya also wore the same manufacturer’s dupatta in her wedding. He termed these allegations as baseless and a means to garner public sympathy.

3. BREAKING NEWS on Zee News- News just in that Mallika Sherawat and Rakhi Sawant were seen together in full clothes. They were covered from top to bottom with only their fingers and head hair visible. Our reporters are following them to bring to you real time coverage of this rare occasion. If rumours are to be believed then it’s being speculated that they are advertising for a top burqa company from Abu Dhabi. There are also reports that many of their fans have made an attempt of suicide as a result of this shock.

4. BREAKING NEWS on CNN IBN- Sachin Tendulkar has finally retired from international cricket. The selectors appeared relieved after his announcement. But their joy can be short termed as Saurav Ganguly, while addressing media persons after his marriage with Bipasha Basu, says that Bips has recharged him. Fans may recall that Azharuddin felt the same after his marriage with Sangeeta Brijlani; the bijli struck at Eden Gardens in Azhar’s first match after the marriage.

5. BREAKING NEWS on Doordarshan- BJP leaders have moved to the Supreme court after Rahul Gandhi’s recent speech in the parliament house as RS member. They are angry over his hindi. As viewers might recall that he mentioned ‘chahe hum jeeta ya losein’ when it came to the proxy war with Pakistan. BJP leaders have just filed their case against him. Rajnath Singh appeared in angry mood over this mockery of Hindi.

Why would Doordarshan not get into BREAKING NEWS?

I am just hoping for a news channel with the name BREAKING NEWS to pop us.
