At 4pm on May 25, a video was posted on the Internet. In this video, there were more than 20 students in a classroom for a geography lesson. The students were napping, talking, horsing around and one of them was roaming around filming. One student said: “This is the geography lesson. Watch the show.” Then he walked up to the teacher and removed the teacher’s white hat. The class roared in laughter. Later, that student went up to the teacher and made for a physical confrontation. Another student threw a water bottle at the teacher while the first student yelled: “That stupid c*nt! Kill him!” The teacher just kept on with his lecture. The video was apparently posted by a female student in the class. Within three hours, there were 5,000 visits and 100 angry comments. The video was deleted at 7pm, but it has already been copied and distributed across the Intenet.
I think the inherent respect for teachers among Indians can never lead to such a situation. What say?

I don’t think I have read so many ‘weird’ news dealing with India on the same day.
1. Lost 81 times, ready to take on PM- Having contested against President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, his predecessor K.R. Narayanan, former prime ministers P.V. Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, Padmarajan found place in the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for losing 57 elections in various categories.
He added that challenging VVIPs was a passion for him, and hoped contesting his 82nd election against the Prime Minister would help him find a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.[HT]
2. MLA masters Matric, off to college now- Chakradharpur MLA Sukhram Oraon is a happy man today, having passed his Matric examination with flying colours (a first division). The icing on the cake is that his son and brother, too, have emerged successful with the former scoring the most marks.
A successful politician, Oraon’s success in the academic field is a moment of immense pride for him as well as the people in his constituency. Visibly elated after seeing his result on the Internet, the MLA breathed a sigh of relief, saying: “It was like the counting of votes. It feels great to have passed the first big academic test of my life. My son, Sunny Oroan, has also secured first division. [HT]
3. Gay diplomats put MEA in big dilemma- The Ministry of External Affairs is caught in a same-sex diplomat dilemma after it was found that two officials at the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi, a man and a woman, are living with their same-sex married partners.
Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which came into effect 145 years back in 1862, bars sexual intercourse between same-sex people and provides for life sentence for violation. [CNN IBN]

When the notorious booth capturer — or so the police claimed — was brought to the Allahabad executive magistrate’s court, the judge was left searching for words.
He immediately asked the lawyer of the accused to file a complaint so that he could instead ask the alert policemen a couple of questions.
After all, the ‘booth capturer’ they brought in is seven years old, chiefly worried about filling out his Class III workbooks.
Little Ashwani Kumar Kushwaha was clubbed along with booth capturers, arsonists, rioters and sundry anti-social elements likely to disrupt peace during the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.[HT]

I have no idea how can the police justify this. I am too eager to know the details as the reports don’t mention any particular incident. I didn’t even know about elections when I was 7 but I think times have now changed. When a 9 year old can become a mother so why not a 7 year old a booth capturer?
