Chennai is a World Leader

by Sharique on March 7, 2007

People of Chennai search for ’sex’ more than any other place on earth. New Delhi comes second and most ridiculously Delhi comes third!

The top 10 list includes all the Asian cities.

See here

Any particular reason for this?

For the search term ‘girl’ Chennai drops down to third place, New Delhi and Delhi leads this list

This is not the first time I read something like this. We heard it before; the stereotype of sex frustrate males and untouched by globalisation and feminism.

Anis Shivani calls it:

The commodification of an exoticised Orientalism

Sharique,

Please don’t tell me you never heard of Edward Said? and his book; Orientalism? If not, then….do it NOW! You are deep deep trouble, my friend.

Acording to Said:

“In the creating of a consensus about the ‘other’, the Oriental nations, that encompassed not only the Western world but also the elites of the those nations. Western education, literature, and art became dominant because of the economic and political dominance of the imperialist countries. Power, or the lack thereof, therefore, lies at the heart of the Orientalist discourse and allows the stabilization of the consensus that is critical to the maintenance of dominance. Said emphasizes that Orientalist discourses are not a thing of the past, and that they imbue the political vocabulary that we use today in our understandings of the nations of the Third World.

What Anis Shivani means by “The commodification of an exoticised Orientalism” is turning the image of Indians into the “other“. Anis wants to show Orientalism also applies for Indians.

I have to go now Sharique. BTW, I don’t mean to be snobbish ;)
Salaam

Sex starved Humans :S

Totally Ridiculous

I am not only saying this regarding people of India but my own country Pakistan is no less too :(
Its sad to see that countries like UK and USA where open relationships are a normal thing still do not exhibit ’sex animal’ instinct

And we :S huh being Muslims … still show the lust for foul things sad :(

Dj Flush,

Someone gave a bold reply

Islamic countries are leading coz they can only search on the net. Non-islamic Countries mein they dont need to waste their time searching online.
