few thoughts

by Sharique on August 5, 2006

So i am finally a matak. And how did i start my day on 3rd? well i went to the 8 o’clock class only to find out that i am the only one present, even the normal, punctual, mataks were absent! I had to go because it’s my guide’s course. Life has changed drastically since the last semester. I still don’t get that the feel that classes have started…i am still in holiday mood and just 3 courses this semester would always keep me in that mood. I was going to the mess the other day, there were few 3rd yearites ahead of me. I could sense the suspecting eyes that were being cast upon me.
“Yeh abhi tak yehi hai ! lagta hai 5 by 4 ban gaya hai..poor guy dekhne me lagta to nahi hai ki cuppa mara hoga”
“arre nahi yaar dulla ho ga”
“ho sakta hai..bechaare matke..pain ho jata hoga inhe 5th yr me”
“oye bhool mat tu bhi dual hai! ”
“arre ha yaar lekin abhi bahut saal hai..tab ki tab dekhe ge”

I was browsing through desipundit.com and saw this. I was surprised to find Kiruba’s name in it. Well to be frank i do agree to a lot of points mentioned like this one

Kiruba was more known for his regular inane posts. What Kiruba did and which others did not (probably because they did not want to) was self promotion. I will give that to Kiruba, he was too good at self promotion. If you notice, most of the “Hi Kiruba, that was awesome / great / fun” comments in his blog are from non bloggers. Any one who is a blogger knows well that there are far more representative bloggers out there.

I was unaware of the stardom of Kiruba, when i first saw him in the blogger’s meet at Ascendas. The first thing i did, after returning back, was to open his blog. The posts did surprise me. They were mostly reports and kind of news. I differentiate between news and blogging. In blogging you express your personal opinions without delving into the actual realities. You pen down thoughts as you perceive things. You try to look into unanswered questions. Reporting the actual events without emotions is journalism. I would prefer my blog to be free of such direct reporting. Let blogging be personal because it is the only platform which one could use to write down his/her opinion irrespective of restrictions imposed. There are many blogs that cater to this news collection funda but they are specifically meant for it. There are no personal opinions expressed…. you know something like what info-mat.net will accomplish and be a model for future of reporting blogging :P
I thank the people at yahoo for sending me the huge traffic, my blog has ever seen, to this post
I was within the top 25 Indian bloggers (personal) because of the huge influx :D
Update: The blogsphere is on fire. The race is on for India’s top blogger and there is a lot of mud-fight going on between bloggers, obviously driven by jealousy. Well the award is mostly decided
Kiruba came up with a very placid reply to these allegations and thus earned a lot of respect among bloggers.

I would just say, the guy is plain jealous. On top of it, I dont even think its a matter of debate. Bloggign is having our own space, why are we linking to Chentil … and proving that blogging is no longer a personal space but again a system jsut like politics/education/sports etc. Where people are top bloggers, and there is a panel which discusses why he is not top or why his posts are inane.
