When the notorious booth capturer — or so the police claimed — was brought to the Allahabad executive magistrate’s court, the judge was left searching for words.
He immediately asked the lawyer of the accused to file a complaint so that he could instead ask the alert policemen a couple of questions.
After all, the ‘booth capturer’ they brought in is seven years old, chiefly worried about filling out his Class III workbooks.
Little Ashwani Kumar Kushwaha was clubbed along with booth capturers, arsonists, rioters and sundry anti-social elements likely to disrupt peace during the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.[HT]

I have no idea how can the police justify this. I am too eager to know the details as the reports don’t mention any particular incident. I didn’t even know about elections when I was 7 but I think times have now changed. When a 9 year old can become a mother so why not a 7 year old a booth capturer?

If this is serious, then its something to worry for. Is it common in UP or what? Never heard about such things anywhere.

UP and Bihar are famous for things like these. But I am not sure if the police arrested the right guy but you know anything can happen in those places. I won’t be surprised if a guy kills someone there!!

Capture a booth??? What does that entail?

I Me My,
A group of people going to a polling booth and taking the machines under their supervision (by force of course). They then cancel all previous votes and feed in votes of the person who sent them. Cool, right? Tell me when you stand for US elections, I have my people ready
