($15,000.) pr yr., & cannot afford a $30,000, or more for an auto, just to go to Bingo, or the doctor, or get my scripts, or buy food! I have many, many retired friends, that would jump at the chance to buy the Tata Nano, at even twice the $2500. price. We could get a loan against our S.S. checks, & then have enough money to live a decent life-style until we pass! I am a 71yr.old retiree, from the U.S. I live on S.S. As for the new Nano (I read about it in the NYT a month ago), it's presence on the streets of New Delhi would be worrisome! I visited the city in 2007 and the traffic congestion was unimaginable so with a car as small and as inexpensive as the Nano the situation will worsen. I wonder how the Indian government does not work toward improving the infrastructure prior to allowing multinationals to bring about technology that is contingent on a supportive infrastructure. I don't mean to hurt nationalistic sentiment and I also don't mean to be overtly critical but I did have some challenging experiences with traffic in New Delhi and that impacted my overall appreciation of the rich heritage and beauty of this old city.
