I was crazy when I saw this. Finally Sania took her revenge from Hingis and that’s what I call sweet revenge :D. People had written her off after her dismal performance in the recent grand slams and plus her loss to Hingis in the recently concluded Kolkata open. This win will go a long way in boosting her confidence and I hope she continues her winning streak.
Sania Mirza has beaten former world No 1 Martina Hingis in Korea Open 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 and taken revenge for the Sunfeast Open semi-final defeat.
Sania lost the first set to the Hingis, who is currently ranked 8, but came back strongly taking six games in a row to win the second set 6-0 in the $145,000 tournament on Thursday.
From then on Sania was unstoppable winning the third set and the match 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 to send the No 1 seed out of the tournament in Seoul.
From CNN IBN
Its tough performing consistently on international arena. She raised people’s expectation after her brilliant entry into Women’s tennis. She kept the tempo and also the expectations, that finally India has a women’s tennis player of international repute, high when she broke into top 50. Her highest rank being 32, the best by any means for a woman tennis player from India or perhaps in the men’s arena as well. How far did Vijay Amritraj go? No doubt Mahesh bhupathi and Leander Paces have brought laurels to India by domination the men’s double event but India today still lacks quality women athletes. Kunjarani Devi remains the only Indian woman athlete who won a medal at Olympics (not sure about this stat).
Talking of tennis, Monica Seles and Jelena Dokic are my all time favourite. I, for some reason or other, never liked Steffi Graph. My dislike for her further grew when Monica was stabbed by a fanatic fan of Graph.
Jelena Steffi

Monica stabbed during a match
I can never forget those epic matches between Seles and Graph. Monica Seles still remains to be my favourite player till date. (Same as first love remains all your life
). I really can’t compare the techniques of Sania Mirza with someone like Monica. Sania doesn’t have a well built physique like Steffi but she does have the agility. I have increasingly realised that tennis as a game is more of power play rather than being agile on the court. Williams sisters and Amelie Mauresmo prove my point further.
BTW no one can me more beautiful than her

She created quite a stir here at the US Open last year. Despite her mediocre ranking her courts were always sold out!

Thats because of Indians
There is a lot of fan following and as you know whereever indians go, they go in large numbers. This reminds me of India-England matches in Enngland..there is more support for India as compared to England! Number does matter you see
