China recently unveiled the “world’s largest” bus. The Chinese manufacturer, named Zhejiang Young Man Vehicle Group, introduced the 25-meter-long “Superliner” at Shanghai’s Busworld Asia 2007 convention. The bus has five doors, 40 seats, carries up to 300 passengers and, according to a driver, “is flexible when cornering.”

I wonder how environmentally sound it is in terms of its emissions…
Sharique 03.18.07 at 9:52 pm
No idea but damn sure that it will be heavy on environment. Chinese don’t care for environment anyway!

I’m certain this bus will be a positive addition to china’s attempts at Bus Rapid Transit. There are smaller bi articulated buses in operation elsewhere and their required turning radius is not much more than that of a normal bus, because of the two joints. could easily see some of those moving passengers here in Trinidad along our Priority Bus Route.

that is not a cool bus ok
paolo 09.20.09 at 12:00 pm
This will just add to the pollution which causes GLOBAL WARMING… do they think about that??
tecton 05.05.10 at 5:51 am
It should actually have a positive environmental effect relative to a standard bus. It might emit a bit more CO2 per mile than a standard bus, but it carries many more people. Therefore, it will emit less CO2 per passenger mile than a standard bus, and less CO2 in total compared to the several standard buses it would take to carry the same number of people.
And Kayla: are you really suggesting that a rapily-industrialisng nation investing in new technology to move people about quickly and efficiently, reducing congestion and pollution, isn’t a positive use of money. Sheesh, the Luddism of some people knows no ends.

Yes I’m sure it’ll be lighter then 10 30-passenger buses or 150 2 passenger smaller cars, stop your mindless China-bashing.

Hi!
In Curitiba, Brazil, was introduced yesterday the brand new biggest bus in the world with 28 meters. And to reduce emissions it’s moved by 100% biodiesel (no petroleum). The buses run in a system of exclusive roads called BRT. http://www.curitiba.pr.gov.br/noticias/luciano-ducci-lanca-maior-onibus-do-mundo-no-eixo-lesteoeste/24536

Heard the chinese engineers are working on something even bigger! Initial reports says it’s a bi-articulated double decker carrying 460 passengers! Now that’s a huge monster.
