China recently unveiled the “world’s largest” bus. The Chinese manufacturer, named Zhejiang Young Man Vehicle Group, introduced the 25-meter-long “Superliner” at Shanghai’s Busworld Asia 2007 convention. The bus has five doors, 40 seats, carries up to 300 passengers and, according to a driver, “is flexible when cornering.”

I wonder how environmentally sound it is in terms of its emissions…

Sharique 03.18.07 at 9:52 pm

No idea but damn sure that it will be heavy on environment. Chinese don’t care for environment anyway!

Thilak 03.19.07 at 1:32 am

Wow.. I guess that bus will only run of highways. It won’t work in Indian roads :D

Madhur Kapoor 03.19.07 at 2:44 am

And it wont even work in places like Shimla .

eches 03.22.07 at 7:13 am

:!: thats hude i mean i never seen anything that huge in a bus form

I’m certain this bus will be a positive addition to china’s attempts at Bus Rapid Transit. There are smaller bi articulated buses in operation elsewhere and their required turning radius is not much more than that of a normal bus, because of the two joints. could easily see some of those moving passengers here in Trinidad along our Priority Bus Route.

kayla... 04.15.09 at 8:41 pm

wow… end feed the hungry. no. pay for higher education. no. but make a huge and unnecesarry bus? absolutly.
this is the stupidest thing ive ever seen.

apo 07.14.09 at 4:15 am

This bus will only be used in Airports. There is no way that this alien can make a turn, or “U turn” :))

alex canmi 08.13.09 at 10:26 pm

In Colombia we just broke this record, we have 27.5 meter long bus.

check the link below is in spanish

jerry 08.17.09 at 8:47 am

that is not a cool bus ok

paolo 09.20.09 at 12:00 pm

This will just add to the pollution which causes GLOBAL WARMING… do they think about that??

tecton 05.05.10 at 5:51 am

It should actually have a positive environmental effect relative to a standard bus. It might emit a bit more CO2 per mile than a standard bus, but it carries many more people. Therefore, it will emit less CO2 per passenger mile than a standard bus, and less CO2 in total compared to the several standard buses it would take to carry the same number of people.

And Kayla: are you really suggesting that a rapily-industrialisng nation investing in new technology to move people about quickly and efficiently, reducing congestion and pollution, isn’t a positive use of money. Sheesh, the Luddism of some people knows no ends.

Anonymous 06.24.10 at 12:38 am

Yes I’m sure it’ll be lighter then 10 30-passenger buses or 150 2 passenger smaller cars, stop your mindless China-bashing.

Is it the biggest by capacity?

Rafael Lima 10.10.11 at 10:39 am

In Curitiba, Brazil, was introduced yesterday the brand new biggest bus in the world with 28 meters. And to reduce emissions it’s moved by 100% biodiesel (no petroleum). The buses run in a system of exclusive roads called BRT.

Heard the chinese engineers are working on something even bigger! Initial reports says it’s a bi-articulated double decker carrying 460 passengers! Now that’s a huge monster.
